Inventory Management

Amazon Inventory Management Service

Running out of stock on Amazon is not just a missed sale. It is a ranking event. When your inventory hits zero, Amazon removes your listing from search results. When you restock, you do not automatically return to where you were — you rebuild rank from scratch, competing against competitors who maintained their velocity while you were out.

The Problem

The Hidden Cost of Amazon Stockouts

Most brands understand that a stockout means missing sales during the period they are out. What they underestimate is the ranking recovery cost. A product that took six months to build to page one can lose that position in a two-week stockout and take three months to recover it — during which time PPC costs more per sale, organic traffic is a fraction of what it was, and competitors who maintained rank gain review and sales velocity that further widens the gap.

Stockout removes listing from Amazon search — zero organic visibility while out of stock
Rank recovery after restocking takes weeks to months of sustained sales velocity
PPC costs higher after stockout — lower quality score from rank loss means higher CPC
Inventory planning done on gut feel rather than sales velocity data and lead time analysis
Seasonal demand spikes not anticipated — running out at the highest-traffic moment of the year
FBA storage limits breached during restock — Amazon rejecting shipments when you need inventory most
Our Approach

Inventory Planning Built on Real Sales Data

We manage inventory as a growth function, not a logistics function. Every reorder decision is based on sales velocity trends, lead time data, FBA processing times, and seasonal demand patterns — not on stock levels alone. The goal is zero stockouts on active ASINs, optimal IPI scores to protect storage limits, and shipment timing that keeps inventory flowing without creating long-term storage fee exposure.

What is Included

📦

Stock Level Monitoring

Daily monitoring of FBA inventory levels across all active ASINs with reorder alerts triggered at the right threshold for your lead time.

📈

Demand Forecasting

Sales velocity analysis and seasonal demand modelling to anticipate how much inventory you need and when — not just when you are about to run out.

🚚

FBA Shipment Planning

Shipment creation, quantity planning, and routing coordination for FBA inventory — timed to Amazon’s processing windows and your warehouse lead times.

📊

IPI Score Management

Inventory Performance Index monitoring and management to protect your FBA storage limits — critical for brands that need consistent FBA access.

🔒

Stranded Inventory Resolution

Stranded inventory identification and resolution — stock sitting in FBA that is not linked to an active listing and is accumulating storage fees without selling.

📅

Reorder Calendar

A rolling 90-day reorder calendar showing exactly when each ASIN needs to be ordered, shipped, and when it is expected to arrive at FBA.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you want to know before getting started.

How far in advance should I be ordering FBA inventory?+
It depends on your supplier lead time and Amazon’s FBA processing time at your nearest fulfilment centre. Typically, if your supplier takes 45 days and FBA processing takes 5 to 10 days, you should be reordering when you have 60 to 70 days of stock remaining — not when you are nearly out. We calculate the right reorder point for each ASIN based on your specific supply chain.
What is the Inventory Performance Index and why does it matter?+
The IPI score is Amazon’s measure of how efficiently you manage your FBA inventory. A low IPI score (below 400) can result in reduced FBA storage limits, which means Amazon may reject your shipments when you try to send inventory. We manage your IPI proactively to prevent storage limit restrictions.
Can you help with inventory for both FBA and FBM products?+
Yes. We manage inventory planning for both FBA and Fulfilled by Merchant products. For FBM, the planning approach differs — we focus on your own warehouse stock levels and fulfilment capacity rather than FBA routing.
What happens during peak seasons like Q4?+
Q4 inventory planning requires starting 90 to 120 days earlier than your normal reorder cycle — Amazon’s FBA capacity restrictions during October and November mean inventory needs to be in place before the peak, not during it. We build Q4 planning into the reorder calendar from Q2.
Do you handle Amazon’s new FBA inbound policies?+
Yes. Amazon’s FBA inbound placement requirements changed significantly in 2024. We manage shipment creation and routing under the current policies, including the fee structure for single-location versus multi-location inbound shipments.
